InMotion Slider is helpful when you’re filming videos. InMotion Slider offers several shooting modes and is especially suitable for creating video logos, panoramas, time lapse or slow-motion shots. Features of face tracking are also available. This makes the camera to adjust the position of your face. Saad Raja explains InMotion slider in detail, please see below.
What is InMotion Slider?
InMotion Slider is a shooting aid designed by film makers for film making. It’s a smart moving tripod. The smartphone, GoPro, or other cameras or even SLRs can be attached to this tripod. With sharp and moving recording you can get shots professionally.
This Slider is available on the kickstarter.com website which means it’s an upgraded project where you can contribute. In any case, the InMotion Slider will be delivered to you and you will receive additional items depending on the amount you send.
Processing and accessories
The body itself forms a black box with the InMotion logo. On the side there are waterproof power buttons and Bluetooth. There is also a battery indicator, a USB port and a 12V charging port. The InMotion Slider features a 1000mAh battery. This is not much, but this battery provides enough power to shoot for up to 6 hours. Charging takes about 4 hours.
Below this section is a 38 cm long railing that provides the camera movement. This design also serves to attach external accessories. With threads of ¼ “size, a tripod can be attached to the rail. This is ideal if you do not want or do not need to shoot from the ground. There is also the option to connect a microphone or an external flash.
InMotion Slider offers the possibility of extending the already mentioned rails. By extending them, you get a wider shot and more room to move the camera. One of the most useful tools is a wireless flap that can start and stop shooting. It is not necessary to get to the tripod and turn off the shooting manually after each scene or an unplanned shot, which will make your work easier.
For action shots, you can start shooting in one more way. One part of the accessory is Motion Trigger. These are basically two sensors that communicate via Bluetooth. These sensors create an infrared beam between them which, after interruption, starts to shoot. This starts either immediately or with an adjustable delay. Finally, there is a 360° swivel joint, an external power-saving battery, and a sturdy case that protects the device from shooting.
Video Mode: It is the main feature of the InMotion Slider. This is a movement along the rail from one end to the other. But the camera rotates to concentrate all the time on one point. It’s also possible to set the speed of movement so all your videos will not look exactly the same. If you turn the camera at 180° panoramas can be rotated.
Face Following: While shooting, the camera recognizes the face and rotates accordingly. With this feature, you will be constantly in focus. If the face is detected, the LED will light up. Thanks to that you will know that the camera is shooting you.
Interview Mode: Turn on this mode to set the speed of the motion sequence. The camera starts recording at one end and after a certain time moves smoothly to the other end, where it stops for a second. As the name implies, this option is suitable for recording both monologues and dialogues.
Animation Mode: This setting is not entirely related to motion as the recording method. It’s not about filming a video but about a sequence of individual shots. It can be used to create GIF and other animations. Similarly, Parallax Mode works, which does not focus on the camera, but on one point, just like Video Mode.
Timelapse Mode: In this recording mode, you set how long you want to shoot. The InMotion Slider adjusts the speed of the specified time and moves from one end to the other. When shooting, it looks like the Slider is almost unmolested, but the motion will not work until the video speeds up.
Some info at the end
InMotion Slider communicates with an application that is available for Android, iOS and GoPro devices. The goal of this application was to make the most of both Slider, smartphone and other cameras. The creators wanted to differentiate themselves and not create just another “remote control” for the slider.
The price varies depending on the package you want to order. The lowest price for an InMotion Slider to buy is $247. The product itself is pre-purchased now, but InMotion will not ship until June 2018.
No matter what package you choose, you will receive some accessories in the package such as charging cable and adapter 110V / 230V, 1/4 “screwdriver, attachment hinge, smartphone holder, docking station and printed manual.
Overall, it looks like a great Slider, which offers many useful features such as the aforementioned face tracking. For an ordinary person, it’s an absolutely indispensable thing. But if you’re taking videos, InMotion is definitely worth thinking about buying. So we’ll see how to deal with the competition on the market.
